TEC1-12715 40x40mm Thermoelectric Cooler 15A Peltier Module
The TEC1-12715 module is a thermoelectric cooler that measures 40mm x 40mm and contains 127 semiconductor junctions, which can efficiently heat or cool up to 70°C over a small area.
Thermoelectric coolers, also known as TECs or Peltier Modules, create a temperature difference between their two sides. One side heats up while the other side cools down. Therefore, depending on which side you use, they can be utilized for either heating or cooling purposes. Additionally, the temperature difference can also be exploited to generate electricity.
This Peltier module works very effectively as long as you remove heat from the hot side. Once powered on, the hot side quickly heats up while the cold side rapidly cools down. If you do not remove the heat from the hot side (for example, using a heatsink or another cooling device), the Peltier will quickly reach thermal equilibrium and stop functioning effectively. It is recommended to use an old computer CPU heatsink or another metal block to dissipate heat from the hot side.
A thermoelectric cooling (TEC) module is a semiconductor-based electronic component that functions as a small heat pump. By applying DC power to a TEC, heat is transferred from one side of the module to the other, creating a cold side and a hot side. They are commonly used in industrial applications such as computer CPUs, CCD sensors, portable refrigerators, and medical equipment.
